Tuba City is located on the Navajo Reservation in Northern Arizona. The Hopi Village of Mungapi is located one mile south of Tuba City. Mungapi is a major gateway to the Hopi Indian Reservation. Located about 75 miles northeast of Flagstaff, Arizona, Tuba City’s elevation is about 5,000 feet. Summers are warm and sunny; winters are relatively mild with a small amount of snow each year. Area scenic attractions include the magnificent Grand Canyon National Park, Glen Canyon Dam/Lake Powell, Navajo National Monument, and the world famous Monument Valley. All scenic attractions are an average distance of 80 miles from Tuba City. Tuba City Unified School District #15 is a K-12 public school system educating over 1600 students at 7 schools. 4.  Three letters of recommendation that include at least two from the following:

  • Your most recent supervisor or administrator
  • Your grade level leader or department chair
  • Your mentor teacher, if applicable
  • Your university supervisor, if applicable

5.  Copy of your current Arizona Teaching Certificate
6.  Copy of your current Arizona Fingerprint Clearance Card
7.  Proof of Highly Qualified Teacher status by one or more of the following:

  • Passed the appropriate AEPA or NES subject (content) knowledge test
  • Earned a minimum of 100 points on an appropriate AZ HOUSSE rubric-prior to June 30, 2007 (documentation required upon hiring)
  • Possess 24 credits in the core academic subject area
  • Hold an advanced degree in the core academic subject area
  • Hold National Board Certification in the core academic subject area (Generalist Certificates are not acceptable)
  • HQT Reciprocity (must provide comparable out of state results or HOUSSE rubric documentation)

8.  Proof of prior years teaching experience (verification of employment from previous employer)

Tuba City Unified School District provides medical, dental, vision and life insurance/AD&D for eligible full-time employees. Medical, dental, & vision insurance is provided thru Arizona School Boards Association Insurance Trust (ASBAIT). The claims administrator for ASBAIT is Meritain Health, Inc. Coverage for medical, dental, and vision is effective the first day of the month following the date of hire.As part of a Workers Assistance Program, Tuba City Unified School District provides to eligible employee and their dependents an Employee Assistance Program provided by Alliance Work Partners. This program is designed to assist employees with services such as: confidential free counseling referrals, free legal consultations, a teen hotline, and a 24 hour nurse support.Employees may participate in 403b, 457, and section 125 plan(s).
