A Bicolano won the Western Navajo Regional Spelling Competition held on Greyhills High School in Tuba City Arizona., U.S.A., on Feb. 13, 2013, it was learned yesterday. The champ is Edick Ayala Nuesca, a Junior High School student in Tuba City Unified School District whose mother is a native Bicolana.  The event was attended by more than 100 participants who comprised the 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th graders.  Two winners were picked for each grade level to compete in the Navajo Nation Scripp Spelling Bee that will be held in Chinle, Arizona, this coming March 7, 2013.  Having chosen as the winners, they have a spell off, and Edick won the grand speller award, garnering first among the 7th grader, and grand speller in the entire Western Navajo area…
